Yoga Nidra

What is Yoga Nidra?

Yoga Nidra means ”Yogic Sleep”.  It’s a state of consciousness that you get to between being awake and being asleep.  You achieve this level by (ideally) laying down on your mat/bed/floor, listening to the voice of your teacher and being open to receiving the practice.  It’s a point where you are able to fully immerse yourself in the practice, fully relax the mind and body and to therefore enable change in the brain.  Basically, Yoga Nidra is a form of meditation.

Yoga Nidra can help us sleep better by fully switching off and fully the relaxing the mind.  If we can achieve a betters nights sleep, it can benefit us in so many ways.  We can become more productive in our daily lives.  Being able to sleep fully can also help in reducing the risk of anxiety, depression, stress and some forms of illnesses including strokes, heart attacks and hypertension.

Yoga Nidra isn’t just amazing in helping you to get sleep, there are many other benefits to receive:-

  • Improve memory aid
  • Open our creativity
  • Relieve stress
  • Increase our awareness
  • Improved self-compassion
  • More in touch with ourselves
  • Sooth our nervous system
